Messaging Engineer

The Messaging Engineer(s) Master shall have the following areas of expertise and experience:


  • Implementing disaster recovery solutions
  • Execution of periodic disaster recovery tests
  • Configuration and implementation of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG)
  • Exchange 2010/2013, Windows 2008R2/2012 R2 upgrade, integration and migration
  • Highly-available Exchange solutions utilizing Database Availability Group/Database Activation Coordination (DAG/DAC).
  • Records Retention (Litigation Hold)
  • Message Classification
  • Messaging Disaster Recovery
  • Mobile Messaging solutions including but not limited to BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) solutions
  • Outlook Anywhere and Outlook Web Access
  • Windows PowerShell scripting
  • Group policy management
  • Internet Information Services (IIS)
  • Application networking ports and protocols, Information Assurance (IA), routing and Local Area Network (LAN)
  • Troubleshooting systems, application networking
  • Global Address List (GAL) access via Outlook, Outlook Web Access, or other similar product
  • Simple Sync
  • Unity Sync
  • Integration with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificates and network accounts to support two-factor authentication for all Active Directory (AD) domain account categories and eliminate the need for password-based authentication
  • Support Capacity Planning for messaging solutions
  • Support the development and integration of identity and access management requirements
  • ForeFront Identity Manager
  • Security updates IAW Government procedures for directory services
  • System integration with Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)
  • System integration with System Centered Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2012
  • System integration with Host Based Security System (HBSS)
  • System integration with external storage devices utilizing Logical Unit Numbers (LUNs), quota distribution and File sharing
  • System integration with virtualization; specifically but not limited to VMware
  • System integration and server installation on various server hardware
  • System integration with Structured Query Language (SQL) 2012
  • Develop and integrate mobile solutions that incorporate cellular phones, cellular modems and air cards, Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) devices (e.g., Blackberries or other approved devices), tethering, and paging, into the Enterprise Network
  • Design remote connectivity to email, calendar and contacts, as well as optional data services and peripherals, including a supporting enterprise server capable of supporting DoD PKI or approved hard/soft token encryption



  • Active Secret clearance
  • 8570 compliance
